After chasing me for the last few weeks to make sure I can complete my house sale and be out by 20th December, my buyers today, now the dates have been agreed, have pulled out. They are claiming that this is because the plans for a new coal mine proposed for a few miles away, have been passed by the government yesterday and they don't want to be anywhere near a coal mine . Given that this mine had been in planning since 2013, no one locally expects it to go ahead and it is several miles away in existing mines, I am not happy. I think they should have said something much earlier.

This is the third house sale to fall through in one year for me. The first prospective buyers had elderly parents who lived abroad who became ill. I am an hour's drive from the nearest motorway and two from the nearest airport so I can see that it my location would be a problem to anyone needing to travel much.

The second buyers were very keen to start a family. They talked themselves into needing everything to be perfect before they started. When they realised that one of them would have a much lower salary up here and costed all the jobs they wanted to do, they realised they couldn't afford to buy my house and have everything done before trying for a family.

Have I been unlucky or are people just so much more unrealistic these days?

Back to unpacking boxes as I was expecting to be out in just over a week.
