Hello everyone! Well, hello Black Bentley whom I know to be out there and anyone else who finds me.

I made my account a while ago as I thought I needed it for a fic exchange and then did absolutely nothing with it, so apologies if I've been ignoring you in my ignorance. I've been looking at a few 'How to use Dreamwidth' articles but they all seem to presume that I'm familiar with LiveJournal or Tumblr which I'm not, so I'll apologise in advance for any breaches of netiquette whilst I'm working out what I'm doing. Whilst I'm on the subject of apologies, I'll apologise in advance for how long it will take me to reply or acknowledge posts at times. I have chronic fatigue and sometimes the brain fog interferes with my ability to function at a higher level than a somnambulant hedgehog and I have a dreadful habit of reading stuff intending to reply to it later then forgetting completely about it. I also lose track of time. You are all duly warned.

Dreadful confessions over, back to the 'Hello'.

I live in the North of England, on the coast in a rather eccentric village. I'm an hour away from the nearest motorway and two from the nearest big city (I can hear people from elsewhere in the world laughing their socks off at my definition of remote, but this is remote for most of Britain) which at times makes me feel like I'm living in the 1950s but I like it here. I'm in the middle of moving house and have been for the entire year. So far two purchasers have pulled out at the last minute and I have lost two houses I offered on so I've spent most of the year camping out as I've disposed of stuff ready for moves which didn't happen. Currently, my lovely buyers want to move in before Christmas but the flat I want to move to hasn't been converted yet. The public school in the village sold an entire terrace which had been used as boarding houses and staff accommodation to a local developer but it's Grade 2 listed and the Victorian Society is objecting to everything. It's taken them ten months to get planning permission to replace the single glazed windows with double glazing as the Victorian Society wanted the original windows, which are held together entirely with filler, kept. If I disappear suddenly, it will be because my possessions will be in a different place to myself whilst I await the completion of my new home.

I spend my days quite quietly on the whole: I read a lot - mainly old detective stories and urban fantasy. As I'm desperately trying to downsize, I'm reading on the Kindle Unlimited app and not buying books at all so I'm missing out on a few good series which aren't on Unlimited. I'll catch up with them when I've moved (I have much sympathy for the tramps who are Waiting for Godot). I'm not much of a TV watcher, but Strictly Come Dancing is a must. SAS Rogue Heroes was also unmissable, for entirely the wrong reasons probably, but who cares? I enjoyed Sandman and binge watched Lucifer recently, a guilty pleasure. I'm currently cross-stitching a picture of my daughter's new house for her; I do some scrapbooking and card making. I'm very involved with the Biggles forum. I'm part of a quiz team at the local pub - very amateur but great fun - and every now and again I get in touch with my real self and find a table to dance on.

Send links and advice, people. I look forward to getting to know you.
